Snorri the Jomsviking - Sacred Ground AAR

Kingsleypark's Wargaming Menagerie

Now the secret of why my much maligned Warlord, Snorri, has done so badly in his previous games can be revealed.

He wasn't a Viking - he had simply been waiting for "Northern Fury" to be released so that he could become a Jomsviking!!

I don't remember any " best Saga player in Arbroath" but will let it slide at mo. Everything else pretty accurate but please reflect upon the fact that poor Horace was stuck with a very wet behind the ears warband(literally) up against a very experienced bunch of old timers, although i still believe Snorri looks like a big girl. Horace has since been deposed and with the need for a more long sighted warlord Hen Broon has stepped up.

I had forgotten the Scots were still "drying" when we played!!

Actually your peasants were the most effective unit you had with their pesky Javelins so maybe still having wet paint gave them a bonus!

Good read gain - thanks, and, I think, another rules error :)
With We Obey, the units only move at the same time if both are charging the same enemy unit. What you should have done is to move the warriors first and resolve the fight and then move and fight with the warlord.

Thanks Hitherto but I think on this occasion we got it right but maybe just didn't play it in the proper sequence. With the "We obey" rule the Warlord can activate a friendly unit within "S". That unit can then move, not shoot or rest, but otherwise can move independently of the Warlord. It does not need to contact the same unit as the Warlord unless you are using the "Side by Side" ability which I wasn't going to be able to because the presence of the Scots Warriors meant my Warriors wouldn't get close enough to the Scots Warlord.

Either way it was my bad for not taking out the Scots Warriors first, as any sensible Saga general would have done. Then Horace would have been alone and at Snorri's mercy sooner.

I see you used Beserkers. Are Jomsvikings allowed those? My impression was that they could use Dane Axes, but not berserkers.

That's a good point! Neither of us thought to check on that one. Will consult NF when I get home but I suspect you are right.

Mind you they only lasted one combat pretty early in the game so didn't really have an impact on the main event in the centre of the battlefield. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
