A section of this very forum will be dedicated to M&T and we will open it tomorrow, with the relevant material to download.

Hurrah.

This is probably a stupid question for those of you who are more familiar with Gripping Beast but heres goes...............

I am seeking a rule set preferably written for 15mm miniatures set in the Dark Ages. I would like a rule set specifically written for this scale because (well - essentially I am a lazy bastard) and I have several hundred Viking mini's in this scale and only 150 in 28mm scale. Does Gripping Beast have an ancients or Dark Age rule set in this scale that they can recommend?

are you after a large battle game or small skirmish game, and what sort of basing would you prefer to use?

Hi Mike. A 15mm battle game rather than a skirmish game as I tend to leave the skirmish to the 28mm scale (and am playing Saga to satisfy that particular need).

I have not yet based my miniatures up and painted them so I was going to purchase the system first and base them up as recommended for the system. I have around 400 miniatures in my 15mm Viking army so enough to represent a small to medium size dark age army at a ten or twenty to one ratio. The system itself will probably dictate the ratio and therefore the size of my army - I am guessing.

Well, I have to say that Warhammer Ancients with the excellent Shieldwall supplement works pretty well for Dark Age battles. Nice heroic feel, and it works fine with 15mm figures.
If you want more of a massed battle game, then Field of Glory is fine, as well.

I'm a huge fan of Impetus which works very well at 15mm, should would suggest you have a look at that.

you can download the basic rules for free and there are a loads of lists for the Dark Ages.

other then whats already been suggested Clash of Empires has a large fan base and has good reviews, the new book"Age of Ravens" has just been released which was co written by Martin Gibbins who is a long running chum of Gripping Beast.
