I am fairly new to gaming and have only played 3 games of saga so far...

I want to buy a Warband but don't know which one. I like bows... Maybe Welsh?

Go with with the faction that is most interesting for you, as their history and culture will add to the enjoyment playing with that warband.

I choose the Anglo-Danes as i like the history and personalities, this encourages me to want to play them well...

If you like bows i would say Normans as they do have some good firepower...

echoing the thoughts above, but also as a new player try and find a faction that matches your style of play, otherwise you may get a frustrated

I would get some generic dark age figures - you can then use them for different warbands until you settle on a faction you like and which suits your style of play. Cheers Wayne.

Hi there, I too am new to SAGA, I watched it play at salute and loved the fatigue rule, I'd like a bit of guidance for force selection. I am very aggresive as a general (although almost horizontally layed back in real life!) and wondered what would fit best?

By the way I play at Sudbury but live near Thetford in the East of England if anybody else is out here in the sticks?

If you are very aggressive and like getting stuck in, then Vikings are the faction.
If you like to sit and build up fatigue on the enemy, Anglo-Danes
If you like to pop in and out of bad going and throw lots of javelins and run away when charged, then Welsh
If you like to shoot a lot then finish the enemy with a mounted charge, Normans
If you like to play a waiting game then launch a devastating attack, Jomsvikings
If you like to ride round the table shooting and never getting into combat, Bretons
If you want big solid units which have lots of staying power, Anglo-Saxons
If you want a challenge, Scots

Still not figured out how to play Scots.
