Where figures and manufacturers are discussed, all relevant to the Saga or Muskets and Tomahawks periods, needless to say

Bases

What size bases do most people base their warlords on? I have Renedra bases for my figs, but I can't find the larger round ones for my warlords that they use in the Saga books. Are they custom?
Being in the U.S., I buy all of my figures from Architects of War.

If you have no luck with the Renada bases go to Litko bases. You can even get magnetic bottoms for underneath the bases if you desire.

Heroes are supposed to come with bases? I just received some from Gripping Beast and they sure didn't.

I was hoping for something around 40mm so I could make a mini diorama for my warlord and his entourage. What other companies make flat bases like Renedra?

Once again Litko to the rescue - they make a nice 40mm circular base in a variety of materials so you can even add a magnetic piece to the bottom or a wood base as you like. http://www.litko.net/products/Circular-Miniature-Bases%3A-40-mm.html#.UEVowKDcHGg

Thanks Sven! I didn't see the thin bases like that last time I looked on Litko. I guess the 0.8mm thick would match the Renedra? I was trying to measure one but I can't find a ruler with mm in the house.

They do indeed match. Actually seem to be a hair thinner even when I set them side by side, but that may be how I flocked the respective bases since I did them for separate projects. Just choose your thickness & I like to add an extra magnetic base for underneath. I rough up the plastic at the bottom of the tote/box I use & use some two part epoxy to glue down some steel flashing so the minis travel safely with their magnetic bases. If I'm going on a plane or if real rough travel is expected, I add a thin piece of open cell foam over the top just to add a little resistance & all is good. For my 6mm Baccus armies (there have been several of you who have figured out that I'm the same guy who does maps for them & GHQ & one set for the Warlord Games Pike & Shotte) and their basing (60mmx30mm & 60x60) I use old VHS boxes & other low stuff & they travel well even if occasionally turned upside down. With my 28mm I put a thin piece of foam over the top to prevent shifting on those 14 hour drives to civilization over dirt, & sometimes they actually are improved with gravel, roads.

I started out using LITKO 25mm (1") round bases for my figs and 40mm round bases for command. I recently bought a Scots 4pt army box and found the Renedra bases. In horror! I drove home hoping I had not commited basing sin by using something different than the rest of the world. To my great relief, I found that I had inadvertantly chosed the exact right sizes for my troops! HUZZAH!!
