Cheers peter, that link is a very good source for names i recommend it to everyone else (i'm still trying to find the right fit for my warlord from the list)

Also started reading through the anglo-saxon chronicle, big text! What period is the SAGA set around, i know its roughly before 1066 but how early?

Cheers again,

MaL

The 'Anglo-Danes' were really restricted to the first half of the Eleventh Century, between the the two conquests of England by Swein Forkbeard and Wlliam of Normandy. The Saxons wouldn't really have been noted for their use of large axes before then. The Normans as represented in the game are pretty much 11th Century creatures too. I'm presuming the earlier periods will be the subject of more releases, though the Saxons had been fighting the Welsh since they first arrived in Britannia in the Fifth Century, and the Vikings started raiding England from 793 and I can't see much changing in those factions for earlier periods.

Update!

Here is where I'm up to at the moment...

1st unit of Huscarls complete (well near enough)
2nd unit of Huscarls progressing (just washed)
Warlord started (loads more details to do, plus the important shield design!)

on to the pics...

Can anyone guess from my Warlord's Shield design which historical figure he represents and from which kingdom he hails?

Here's a clue...

And another...

Went to get my copy of SAGA today but unfortunatly nothing in the local store :(, so got the new issue of Wargames Illustrated and have to say Rick's article on the game got me really excited, nice to have a bit of a preview of the Anglo-Danish Battleboard

Also there are some fantastic models in there ;)

Can't wait for my first game tomorrow, will tell you all how it goes and what i think to the system

So what do you think of my almost 2 point warband?

Cheers all,

MaL

Ok...wild stab in the dark time...I'm guessing some Mercian dude, as I have an inkling that naked chick (copyright 'the silly sexist manual, 2011') on the horse has links with Coventry and the Midlands...(that's Mercia, right??) Offa??? Or is that too early...my Saxon history isn't great...

Very nice models, btw... The colour scheme looks cool.
